In these 40 videos you will:

Learn about the tools and supplies you will need. Most importantly how to melt eh wax safely and how to apply it to the Ginwashi paper.

First we will look at the supplies you will need:

  • something to melt the wax on
  • paraffin wax
  • mark making tools to apply the wax with
  • Ginwashi paper
  • watercolour paints and inexpensive brushes
  • other items you likely have in your home already.

Texture is created by the way the wax is applied.
We will explore several mark making options and
get you thinking about others.

Watercolour Batik is a process of building up layers
of wax and watercolour. As you add successive layers
of watercolour you need to know what is going to happen.
In this section you will gain an understanding of how
your watercolours interact with one another.

Now it is time to put the concepts together
and make some small pieces to practise
layering wax and watercolour.

And in the last section I will guide you through the
process of creating a more complex image.
From there you will be able to create your own
wonderfully textured watercolour batiks!
